As technology becomes something people cannot live without. Gen Z is all about the social aspects of technology from Instagram to Tik Tok people are all about the views and how to get them. The algorithm is showing you what you want to see but how do you get what you post to the most people possible. I even catch myself today posting and constantly checking to see if I got a lot of views on the post. But it all seems so random. One time I think it's that quality of the camera or the length of the video. But what if it's all about the gestures.
In the research article "Language Proficiency Impacts the Benefits of Co-speech Gesture for Narrative Understanding Through a Visual Attention Mechanism" by Elizabeth M. Wakefield and Natalia Zielinski they study how visual attention affects how children understand spoken language. This article is a supporting background to the point being made. There findings show that children are more proficient in understanding spoken language with gestures than without. With that information gestures maybe the key factor on how children can stay engaged on social media.
The supporting research article " How Does Hand Gestures in Videos Impact Social Media Engagement- Insights based on deep learning" by Kartik Anand, Sidddhaling Urolagin and Ram Krishn Mishra they studied how hand gestures influenced a TEDx speakers audience engagement. Using a database, RedNeXt, framed from TEDx videos. They were able to discover that positive correlation between using hand gestures and the number of views. In fact, the threshold was an average of 60 gestures per 5 min intervals. Which sounds like a lot but that's only 12 gestures a minute. Next time you give a speech see how many gestures you use in a minute I bet it's just about 12.
These articles both support the importance of gestures and that they should not just be done once Anand, Urolagin and Mishra all show that you need the right-hand gestures and frequently to get the views. With that I'm going to go make a post to prove the importance of gestures and just maybe I will be of your F.Y.P.
