 Lucid Dreaming and Sleep with those that have Autisim:

Sleep is essential for humans in everyday life, and lack of sleep can lead to a non-healthy lifestyle. In the article, The impact of sleep quality on quality life of autistic adults by Kiley. McLeanShaunM. EackLaurenBishopSteptoe, O’Donnell, Marmot,&Wardle, those who lack sleep can develop depression, anxiety, problems with the immune system, and much more. This will affect one’s everyday life, that saying, autistic children have problems sleeping at a young age, causing them to sleep less. Which affects their day-to-day life, and due to that, they are at a higher risk of having depression, anxiety, etc. Their sleep cycle, which is different from those that aren’t autistic, can lead to insomnia. Lack of sleep in autistic children will eventually continue through their adulthood. 

            There was an experiment conducted with forty adults who have autism. The researchers tested three factors which are: sleep quality, perceived stress, and group. By doing that, they would ask questions to the adults. The questions that were asked were when do you sleep? How are you doing in your everyday life? And would ask whether they are stressed or not and how their relationships are.  
            As a result, it was said that the lack of sleep and stress for those that are autistic will affect their sleep. Which then will affect their everyday life, but the group didn’t affect the stress or the sleepy quality. Those that are autistic and have higher stress levels with little sleep show that their quality of life is deficient. It shows that it is different with those that have autism vs. those that do not. Those who don’t have autism and lack sleep with high-stress levels will impact their quality of life, but it is more significant in those that are autistic. 
    Although those that are autistic can not get rid of it, they can improve their quality of life. That is by having an intervention, having help with their behavior and treatment. Once they do, they can decrease their risks of any potential harm to their body and behavior if there is consistency with the methods a specialist may provide regarding sleep and stress. Those who have autism can lead a long and healthy life. The expectancy rates for autism have increased, showing that they can indeed live a longer life. 
                As I read the research for Konkoly about lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming is when you are aware that you are dreaming and you can control it. The study said that those who lucid dream will tend to forget or remember bits and pieces. 

    With that saying, I wondered, with those with autism, will it affect them differently? Will the outcome be different from those who do not have autism? In the article, Asperger Syndrome and Dreams by Lucid Dreaming, experiences, and stories are collected with those who have experienced Lucid dreaming with autism. One of the stories discussed how they could remember their lucid dream and control it from their childhood. I find it interesting because not many can hold or remember their dreams. Which leads to the following question: Can lucid dreams affect the quality of life for those with autism? Sleeping less, having stress can lead one to have a lucid dream, but it may be poor. With more sleep, the dreams would be longer and better. A person had said he didn't realize that he was lucid dreaming until he became an adult. This shows that it could be slightly dangerous because you won't know when you are in reality and when you aren't.
